Sac State Coalition Presents The Mock Funeral

The Sac State Coalition are Sacramento based students, teachers, and individuals organizing and advocating for all students against fee increases, mandated furloughs, decreased class offerings, closed enrollments & other issues in an effort to preserve the accessibility, affordability and quality of higher education in the State of California.

The purpose of our Mock Funeral is to raise awareness about the current, statewide higher education crisis. Thursday, December 3rd, 2009 at 12pm in the Library Quad there will be Sacramento State students and faculty voicing their concerns about the cuts to higher education, specifically at the California State University (CSU) level. Students will be marching and carrying a mock casket that represents the death of California’s commitment to the affordability, accessibility, and quality of higher education, established in the California Higher Education Master Plan. Students will be carrying tomb stones with written messages symbolizing the cuts that have been made to higher education and how they are impacted by fee increases, reduction of classes offered, mandated furloughs, closed enrollment & delayed graduation rates.
